United Electric Controls launch the Excela Electronic Switch
ABLE Instruments & Controls Ltd are delighted to announce the launch of the UE Excela electronic switch. Excela combines the attributes of both a switch (e.g. simplicity) and a transmitter (e.g. accuracy). We are confident that the benefits of the Excela will resonate with customers looking to upgrade their switch infrastructure in an affordable and hassle-free manner.
SIGNIFICANCE OF THE EXCELA
Instrumentation users often state that they want less device maintenance, and better operational insight from their electromechanical switch products. For them, upgrading from an electromechanical switch to a transmitter could be costly and often overkill for the application in question. Excela, a general-purpose electronic switch, was designed to meet the needs of plant operators looking for an affordable, easy to install, drop-in-upgradefor their aging mechanical switch infrastructure. The UE brand has always been synonymous with quality and reliable instrumentation, especially for hazardous location applications. With the general-purpose Excela, we can now offer an electronic switch solution to diversify into new non-hazardous location industry segments. While Excela may resemble an older version of the UE One Series, that is where the comparison ends, they are completely different products. Certain features have been incorporated into the Excela software to make the device easy for the user to operate and maintain.
CUSTOMER BENEFITS OF THE EXCELA
Excela is currently available in pressure, differential pressure, and temperature models and is aimed at applications in non-hazardous industries like water & wastewater, power, pulp and paper, food processing, just to name but a few.
Here are several benefits the customer may realize from using the Excela:
- Easy integration with PLC, DCS and I/O card (8 – 50 VDC input). This is achieved with Excela’s 2 wire power and signal patented design.
- Precise control and performance. Programmable deadband can be adjusted up to 99% of sensor operating range and a switch accuracy of 0.5%.
- Local visual indication of operational status. Red/Green LED indicator on LCD display to annunciate normal or alarm condition.
- Weatherproof construction. Excela is NEMA 4X and IP66 certified for use in both outdoor and indoor applications.
