Fuel Element Debris (FED) dissolution at the station following shutdown in March 2002 after 40 years of operation.

Equipment
An extensive process control instrumentation package incorporating Pressure & Temperature Transmitters, Magnetic & Coriolis Flowmeters, Hydrogen & Redox Analysers, Ultrasonic Level Transmitters.

Details
The accelerated decommissioning programme saw the reactor become the first in the UK to enter Care & Maintenance (C & M) in 2015. Equipment deployed in “Red” areas of high radiation fields required the nuclear industry’s specific safety benchmark, Emphasis Approval
