The process of manufacturing bitumen begins by pumping crude oil through a heat exchanger system that increases the temperature of the oil to about 200°C. The oil is then pumped to a furnace to further raise the temperature to around 300°C, which will partially vaporize it. Then it is ready to enter an Atmospheric Distillation Column (ADC).
Conveying bulk granular materials is common in Pulp and Paper, Coal Fired Power Plants, Agriculture, Food products, Aggregates, and Mining industries. Chutes used to convey these materials are prone to plugging resulting in down time and possible material overflow.
Food processing facilities that make products such as tomato paste, baby food, cake mixes, condiments, etc. use batch processes in their production facilities. That is, the operator will start with an empty vessel and add ingredients to make up the final product.
