Hydrogen refuelling stations operate across a wide range of temperatures (−40 to 60 °C) and pressures (up to 875 bar) in accordance with the worldwide accepted fuelling protocol SAE J2601 [2]. The purpose of this document is to provide performance requirements for hydrogen dispensing systems used for fuelling heavy duty hydrogen transit buses and vehicles. With wireless telemetry, the fuel level can be remotely monitored and the portable hydrogen fueller refilled in place or exchanged for a full unit.

ABLE’s range of Rheonik High Pressure Coriolis Mass Flow Meters are fast becoming the go to methodology for evaluating the refuelling station dispenser as a measurement system.

For Air Products, ABLE specified the Model RHM04 Compact Coriolis Flow Sensor with enhanced performance and OIML R139 approval certificate of conformity for the metering of a hydrogen dispenser used for refuelling cars. The RHM04 is available in standard high-pressure versions up to 1067 bar (15475 psi).

For this application, the flow sensor was paired with the RHE28 advanced function transmitter in a rugged epoxy coated enclosure, designed for field mounting.

The unique robust torsion driven oscillation system delivers mass flow uncertainty down to 0.10.
